TRX increases variety of workouts at California Fitness
Hong Kong, 13 April 2010 - The internationally-acclaimed TRX Suspension Training System has launched at California Fitness - cementing its reputation as Hong Kong's largest gym offering the greatest variety of workouts.
TRX, or Total-body Resistance Exercise was initially designed by US Navy Seals as a way to keep fit in cramped locations. Industrial-strength nylon suspension cables with handles and foot cradles are attached to overhead anchoring points - using wall or ceiling brackets. TRX works the entire body and is designed to improve functional and core strength, while increasing your range of motion.
Traditional weight training typically works one muscle at a time and can lead to overuse injuries. However, TRX Suspension Training allows for multiple planes of motion, working a variety of muscles and joints simultaneously. TRX trains the muscles by suspending all or part of your body. This creates an element of instability that calls on your core to provide balance and correct posture. This engages the entire body - using core and postural muscles - which means it's great for toning, flexibility and strength training.
Many of the TRX exercises are Pilates-based, the main difference with TRX is that you use gravity and your body weight as resistance. Most of the exercises are done in a standing position and complement movements in daily life and sport.
California Fitness instructor George Iu said TRX is perfect for all levels of fitness and a fun way to give the body a complete work-out. "It's great for men who want to increase their muscle strength, and it's also great for women who want to tone their body," he said.
TRX is currently available at Central, with special Group Exercise sessions that offer only 10 places per class. One-on-one specialized TRX personal training is also available to achieve maximum results.
