California Fitness - Yao Ming Sport Club Opens in Yao’s Hometown

Shanghai, November 24,2007 – 24 Hour Fitness Worldwide, the largest privately owned U.S. fitness chain, and its subsidiary, California Fitness, today officially opened its second “California Fitness – Yao Ming Sport Club” in mainland China.

Located in Shanghai, Yao Ming’s hometown, it is the first of its kind in the city. Popular drama idol Ren Quan and super model Jill Tong, joined senior executives from California Fitness at a colorful ceremony to mark the grand opening of the stunning new California Fitness - Yao Ming Sport Club.

Located at the Infiniti Plaza, just opposite to the bustling Shanghai Times Square, California Fitness – Yao Ming Sport Club occupies the entire fifth and sixth floors, giving it a total floor area of 3,600 square meters. With a staggering investment of US$4 million, the club features a roof-top basketball court that overlooks the magnificent view of Shanghai, comprehensive cardio and resistance equipment, two spacious Group X (group aerobics exercise) studios and a spinning studio.

According to Steve Clinefelter, President of California Fitness, “mainland China is growing in importance as a market for the company, and we are very proud to be expanding our footprint in China with the introduction of our second California Fitness – Yao Ming Sport Club.
